San Francisco Giants
SAN FRANCISCO -- Gio Gonzalez pitched into the seventh inning to win for the first time in more than a month, and the Washington Nationals beat the San Francisco Giants 6-3 on Tuesday night. Daniel Murphy and Trea Turner had three hits apiece as the NL East leaders won their fourth in five games. Jayson Werth added two hits and a bases-loaded walk, and Michael A. Taylor had two hits and two RBIs. One night after a wild, bench-clearing brawl that resulted in suspensions for Washington outfielder Bryce Harper and San Francisco reliever Hunter Strickland, the teams played without incident. Each player appealed his penalty, keeping both eligible to participate until resolutions are reached. The only Continue to Article

Catch up on the last 24 hours in Nationals news while you wait for another late start in AT&T Park... Dusty Baker told reporters before last nights game that the Nationals were over the whole beanball/brawl drama and didnt blame it on the Giants as much as on their reliever, Hunter Strickland alone, so the tension was lessened some before the second game of three in AT&T even started. Washington Nationals
Dusty Baker talked before and after the Nationals win about the four-game suspension for Bryce Harper and putting Mondays brawl behind them.... Before the second of three with the Giants in San Franciscos AT&T Park, Washington Nationals skipper Dusty Baker and Nats slugger Bryce Harper downplayed the possibility there would be retaliation for Hunter Stricklands 98 mph purpose pitch during the eighth inning of Mondays series opener. Suspensions (four games for Harper, six for Strickland) were handed out before the game, punishing Strickland for the pitch, and Harper for charging the mound, tossing his helmet, even though he missed, and exchanging punches with the reliever he took deep twice in the 2014 NLDS and hadnt faced since. San Francisco Giants
The San Francisco Giants have placed first baseman Michael Morse on the seven-day concussion list after his collision with starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija in the brawl against the Washington Nationals. Utility player Kelby Tomlinson has been called up to take Morse's spot on the roster. In the top of the eighth inning of Monday's game, Giants reliever Hunter Strickland threw at Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper and hit him in the hip. Continue to Article

Washington Nationals
SAN FRANCISCO – The Giants did not emerge from Monday’s brawl unscathed. Moments before Tuesday’s first pitch, the club placed first baseman Michael Morse on the 7-day concussion disabled list and recalled infielder/outfielder Kelby Tomlinson from Triple-A Sacramento. Morse knocked heads with Jeff Samardzija during the fight. They were the first two players to reach the combatants after right-hander Hunter Strickland hit Bryce Harper with a pitch and Harper charged the mound. Harper later expressed gratitude for Morse, a former teammate with the Nationals, for impeding Samardzija from possibly landing a punch. Samardzija apparently was OK after the collision. The right-hander is starting Tuesday Continue to Article
