Of all the places in North Texas known for their vegan food, Globe Life Park in Arlington recently received a ringing endorsement. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) this month deemed the home of the Texas Rangers the No. 1 vegan-friendly ballpark in the country. The park has been absent from PETA’s annual list for almost a decade. And this year, Globe Life Park is the only Texas venue in the top 10. The organization commended the ballpark for having an entire food stand dedicated to vegan foods, like meat-free jerky, black bean burgers, spinach wraps with hummus and other meatless, dairy-free items. The cart, located on the first floor in section 16 on the third base side of Continue to Article

Free agent running back Rashad Jennings and pro partner Emma Slater won Season 24 of “Dancing with the Stars” on Tuesday night. Rashad Jennings lamented during Monday night’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars” that he’d never won the big game. In seven seasons, with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders and New York Giants, Jennings has made but one playoff appearance. Continue to Article

Of course, the Rangers' Mike Napoli didn't mind the idea of replacing David Ortiz. There just was never much chatter that way last offseason, when Napoli was a free agent after his Indians took the Cubs to seven games in the World Series. "I think my agent had maybe a small talk or something [with the Red Sox], but I don't think it ever would have happened," Napoli said Tuesday afternoon as he returned to Fenway Park with Texas. Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal ignited a local firestorm when he made a seemingly off-hand comment a few days ago that he "wouldn't be surprised" if the Red Sox fired John Farrell this year. (He quickly added he also "wouldn't be surprised" if Farrell stayed on and led the team to the A.L. East title this year, but that got scant mention.) Today, however, Rosenthal expounded on Farrell and the Sox in a lengthy column on foxsports.com. While acknowledging the team's injuries and beyond-the-manager's-control inconsistencies (in the starting rotation and with the offense), he also ominously added, "The excuses for the Sox, though, go only so far — all teams deal with injuries, and not all of them boast Continue to Article

One of the most famous documents in sports is going up for auction. The sales contract of Babe Ruth, forged in December 1919, that sent the pitcher and slugger from the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees is being sold by auctioneer Lelands.com. Leland's Josh Evans said that the document being sold is the original copy of the contract owned by then Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert. The copy once owned by Red Sox owner Harry Frazee last sold for $996,000 in 2005. "This is the 'Curse of the Bambino,'" Evans said. "It transcends everything. It changed America." In the early 1990s, Evans said he visited the home of famed collector Barry Halper and saw a binder labeled "Ruth." In it, Evans said, were Continue to Article
