New York Yankees
The New York Yankees (26-17) play the third game of a four-game series against the Kansas City Royals (19-26) on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. Who's pitching for the Yankees: Luis Severino (2-2, 3.64 ERA) earned a no-decision against the Rays in his last outing. He allowed one earned run on five hits while striking out seven and walking five in five innings pitched. Severino seemed to have his control back after throwing all over the place in his previous start against the Astros where he only lasted 2 1/3 innings. He looks to secure his first win since April 26.  Who's pitching for the Royals:  Jason Hammel (1-5, 6.20 ERA) was rocked by the Yanks in his last outing, giving up five runs on nine Continue to Article

He is looking for a bounce-back at home having lost his last two starts. The rookie has yet to pitch through the seventh inning so far this season.  Who's pitching for the Royals:  Danny Duffy (3-3, 2.97 ERA) dominated the Yanks in his last start allowing three hits and no runs while striking out ten and walking two in seven innings. The Royals ace has pitched through the seventh Continue to Article

More sponsors are dropping out of a New York City parade that is honoring a Puerto Rican nationalist who served decades in prison for his involvement in a group that claimed responsibility for more than 100 bombings. Coca-Cola, AT&T and JetBlue became the latest sponsors to skip the June 11 Puerto Rican Day parade along Manhattan's Fifth Avenue. New York has the largest Puerto Rican community off the island. New York Yankees
Two more sponsors are saying they will skip New York City's Puerto Rican Day parade after a decision by organizers to honor a freed nationalist who once embraced armed resistance to the U.S. rule of Puerto Rico. The Coca-Cola Co. says representatives won't march, but it will still support the parade's scholarship program. The New York Yankees say they won't participate this year but will continue to fund scholarships. Continue to Article

New York Yankees
Chris Carelli, SNY.TV Facebook | Twitter | About Me | Archives The Yankees entered the 2017 campaign believing they would have much better performance from their first basemen after a dormant 2016 season. Instead, Yankees first basemen rank dead last in MLB in each component of the triple slash line (.176/.288/.301) and OPS+ (45, with 100 considered average). The drain at the position in 2016 was disappointing, but the club was optimistic for 2017 with Tyler Austin set to build on last season's cameo, Greg Bird back and healthy, and 2016 National League home run co-leader Chris Carter signed for added power. Austin was hurt before a competition at first base could begin, allowing Bird to win Continue to Article
