Cincinnati Reds
Eugenio Suarez and the Cincinnati Reds found out the hard way Friday night that you never take anything for granted on the bases against St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina. After Devin Mesoraco drew a sixth-inning walk that filled the bases, Suarez trotted to third and then stopped about a step past third, believing time was about to be called and the Cardinals were about to make a pitching change. Instead, Molina whipped a quick throw to third and Jedd Gyorko slapped a tag on Suarez for a stunning third out that erased a burgeoning two-out rally, helping St. Louis to a 7-5 win that put it above .500 for the first time since Opening Night. Cincinnati Reds
St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina has picked off 48 runners in his 14-year career, and his heads-up play in the sixth inning of the Cardinals' 7-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday may have been his finest work. Molina short-circuited a Reds rally by catching Eugenio Suarez napping at third with the bases loaded in a 3-1 game. Starting pitcher Lance Lynn walked Devin Mesoraco with two away. St. Louis Cardinals
It took a little while for the St. Louis Cardinals bats to get going during Thursday's day-night doubleheader against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Cardinals, who got back to .500 at 11-11, recorded 14 runs and 25 hits in the two games. Continue to Article

St. Louis Cardinals
Before Tuesday night, the Toronto Blue Jays were a struggling, underperforming team that was running out of time to right the ship. Because no one was talking about the Blue Jays’ pathetic start anymore, they were talking about the greatest home plate tag anyone has ever seen. Coghlan’s slide was one of the things that helped the Jays win against the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday, and they needed it badly. Continue to Article

Cincinnati Reds
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Eric Thames exited Wednesday's game against Cincinnati Reds in the seventh inning with a tight left hamstring. "It's not a big deal," Brewers manager Craig Counsell of Thames, who had been plagued by the injury for the past five days. Thames entered play on Wednesday as the major league leader in homers (11) and pushed his league-best total in runs scored to 27 after crossing the plate twice in Wednesday's 9-4 win over Cincinnati. The 30-year-old homered in each of Milwaukee's first six games versus Cincinnati before being held in the park on Wednesday. Thames, who is batting .370 with 19 RBIs, had a single and two walks in the afternoon contest. "We have an off-day Continue to Article
