Kansas City Royals
The two worst offenses in the American League won't get any breaks Saturday when the Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers play the third game of a four-game set. Josh Hamilton's playing career might very well be over. "I plan to have surgery on my right knee and then evaluate the situation. I want to thank the Rangers and all of the great fans for the support and encouragement. I really appreciate it." Texas said Hamilton injured his right knee while rehabbing from a February procedure to repair the meniscus in his left knee. Continue to Article

Former American League Most Valuable Player Josh Hamilton, his bid to return to the Major Leagues stymied by a new knee injury, was released by the Texas Rangers on Friday. The Rangers released Hamilton from his minor league contract after the 36-year-old sustained a right knee injury while rehabilitating his left knee. "I am disappointed but not discouraged that my knee problems have not allowed me to play this season," Hamilton said in a statement. Continue to Article

Texas Rangers
Josh Hamilton said he will decide his next step after having surgery on his right knee. Josh Hamilton was out of work on Friday after a new knee injury, and there’s your further evidence that Hamilton, like all ballplayers, like all people, are made up of icky, gooey, gross stuff that no one wants to see and eventually doesn’t work anyway. The Texas Rangers released him, a procedural move that won’t stop Hamilton’s larger paychecks ($26-ish million from Arte Moreno this year) from coming, but does perhaps portend the end of his baseball career.
