Houston Astros
The AL West was expected to be up for grabs, and the first couple weeks of the 2017 MLB season have done nothing to change that expectation. The Astros have won four straight, and are now in first place at 8-4. The Angels were in first, but now they've lost five in a row and are 6-7 after dropping a series to the division-rival Rangers and getting swept by the Royals. Continue to Article

Houston Astros
The Houston Astros and Athletics have been postponed because of rain, Oakland's first home rainout since April 2014. ''You always try to avoid the rainouts, yet looking at the forecast it looked like it was the right thing to do,'' A's manager Bob Melvin said. Oakland was rained out at home on April 1, 2014, and a game was postponed three days later when the grounds crew failed to put out the tarp and rain muddied the infield. Continue to Article

''This team has no limits,'' Astros starter Lance McCullers said. Continue to Article

Houston Astros
OAKLAND — The A’s entered the season holding their bullpen — featuring four former or current big league closers — in high regard as one of very few bright spots on the team. That bright spot failed them in Saturday’s 10-6 loss to the Houston Astros. Santiago Casilla and Sean Doolittle were the main culprits in a bullpen meltdown that featured a combined eight earned runs given up by five relievers over four innings. Casilla allowed two runs in the seventh and eighth to blow what was a 5-3 lead that he inherited from Liam Hendriks, and Doolittle proceeded to allow a two-run home run to George Springer that put the Astros ahead 8-5 to complete the disastrous performance. The A’s jumped to a 5-0 Continue to Article
