The rebuilding San Diego Padres went 6-4 on their final homestand, including splitting a four-game series with the San Francisco Giants and taking two of three from the NL West champion Los Angeles Dodgers. The Padres lost 9-4 to the Dodgers on Thursday night, but manager Andy Green likes what he sees. The Baltimore Orioles eliminated two of their pursuers Thursday night in Toronto. Now the Orioles head to Yankee Stadium to open a three-game series against the New York Yankees looking to further solidify their wild card spot on Friday night. There will be plenty of raw emotion at Nationals Park on Friday when the Miami Marlins begin a three-game series against the Washington Nationals. The series opener comes a day after a memorial service in Florida for Jose Fernandez, the ace of the Marlins who died in a boating accident Sunday.
