Seattle Mariners
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Alexei Ramirez homered twice and matched his career high with five RBIs, and Adam Rosales and Wil Myers also homered for the San Diego Padres, who beat the Seattle Mariners 14-6 Wednesday night several hours after executive chairman Ron Fowler strongly criticized the team's poor recent play. Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers battled back to tie the game against the Cleveland Indians on three separate occasions Wednesday. The Rangers did not get the hit they needed to take a lead, however, and lost 5-4 in 11 innings on Yan Gomes' single off Alex Claudio, ending their four-game winning streak. ''We were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position,'' Banister said. Continue to Article

Yan Gomes' single scored Lonnie Chisenhall with the winning run in the 11th inning and the Cleveland Indians defeated the Texas Rangers 5-4 on Wednesday night. Seattle Mariners
After years of offensive futility, can you blame Felix Hernandez for being excited that his Seattle Mariners are finally stepping up and scoring runs? The Mariners rank second in the American League in runs per game behind the Boston Red Sox and they flexed their newfound power with five home runs in a 16-4 win Tuesday against San Diego. However, this long awaited breakout with the bats in Seattle has come with an unintended consequence. [ Join a Yahoo Daily Fantasy Baseball contest now ] Say what?  Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune writes that Hernandez strained his right calf celebrating a home run during Tuesday's game and was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Left-hander James Paxton has been called up to take Hernandez's place in the rotation for the time being. Hernandez has been exceptionally durable throughout his career – the last time he was on the DL was back in 2008 – and he's expected to return to the mound when his 15 days, backdated to May 28, are up. [Elsewhere: Padres top executive calls team 'miserable failures ] You can't make it up. Hernandez has been routinely robbed of wins because of shoddy run support and now the offense is responsible for a rare injury? Sheesh! Hernandez can only hope Seattle's lineup continues to roll when he comes back and together they can keep the Mariners in contention for the playoffs. Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners have placed Felix Hernandez on the 15-day disabled list with a right calf strain, just the third time in his career the veteran right-hander has landed on the DL. The Mariners announced the move Wednesday morning and recalled left-hander James Paxton from Triple-A Tacoma. Paxton joined the team in San Diego, where he was set to start Wednesday night.
