Detroit Tigers closer Francisco Rodriguez says he contracted the Zika virus over the offseason in his home country of Venezuela and advises potential Olympic athletes to educate themselves on the virus before heading to Rio de Janeiro. Rodriguez says he was bedridden for about two weeks with head and body aches, sore joints and other symptoms. It felt like he had a cold at first, but as symptoms worsened, he went for bloodwork that determined it was Zika. Continue to Article

C.J. Cron's second homer of the night soared over the left field fence and ended a remarkable power display in a ballpark that doesn't set off these types of fireworks very often. Although the Los Angeles Angels and the Detroit Tigers combined to hit nine homers, Cron's last blast was the biggest. Matt Shoemaker probably looks back fondly – and now longingly – at a rookie season in which he won four of every five of his decisions for the Los Angeles Angels. On Wednesday night against visiting Detroit, that ratio will be thrown in his face in the form of Tigers rookie Michael Fulmer, but it's the Angels going for the sweep.
