After setting the major league record by striking out 52 times in a three-game sweep, the Baltimore Orioles couldn't wait to get out of Houston. A 4-2 loss to the Astros on Thursday night was the final straw for slugger Adam Jones. ''This hasn't been fun,'' Jones said. Continue to Article

Mike Fiers hopes to finally put together back-to-back quality starts, and if he can, he may be able to extend the Houston Astros' longest winning streak of the season. Fiers looks to extend the momentum from his latest outing and the Astros' pitching staff as he faces the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night. The managers will be in the spotlight for Friday night's three-game series opener between Banister's Texas Rangers and Hurdle's Pirates in which Texas starter Cole Hamels seeks to remain perfect in Arlington with his 13th straight regular-season victory. Banister played for the Pirates in 1991 with a hit in his only big-league at-bat and served with the organization in a variety of roles since retiring. Continue to Article

LAA Angels
Angels starter Hector Santiago went to the mound with the lead each of his first two innings and went back to the dugout both times with the game tied. Santiago didn't make it out of the third, when the Rangers went ahead to stay in a 15-9 victory Wednesday that gave them two wins in the three-game series. Santiago (3-3) allowed the longest homer in the major leagues this season, to Rangers rookie Nomar Mazara. Continue to Article
