San Francisco Giants
Madison Bumgarner was way too much for the San Diego Padres. The left-hander threw a five-hitter and struck out 11 for his first complete game this season and Brandon Crawford homered and drove in all five runs to lead the NL West-leading San Francisco Giants to a 5-1 victory against the Padres on Tuesday night. The benches cleared after Bumgarner struck out Wil Myers to end the third. Continue to Article

San Francisco Giants
After the insane brawl between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers on Sunday, almost any other on-field fight is going to seem anti-climactic. But Tuesday night's altercation between the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres had a very different ending than most. In the bottom of the third inning, Padres first baseman Wil Myers struck out swinging on a 3-2 pitch from Madison Bumgarner. After his swing, Myers danced away from the plate and started back toward the dugout. As Bumgarner walked the other way, he turned and heaved some words at Myers, and, well, you can guess what happened next. [ Join a Yahoo Daily Fantasy Baseball contest now ] Yes, the benches cleared. Padres right fielder Matt Kemp was first on the scene, and he got directly between Bumgarner and Myers, who was already being blocked by an umpire. Bumgarner kept yelling at Myers, but Kemp played peacemaker until other Giants teammates could surround Bumgarner and shuffle him off to the side.  This fight was all words, and thankfully no punches were thrown. As for why Bumgarner yelled at Myers (yelling at batters is something Bumgarner has done before), he didn't really have a great reason for it.  What happened with Myers? Bumgarner: "Nothing, I just wanted to get mad for a minute." — Alex Pavlovic (@AlexPavlovic) May 18, 2016 Okay then. But it wasn't over just yet. In the top of the ninth inning, Bumgarner, who was still in the game, drew a walk. While he was on first base, he and Myers appeared to talk things out.  Not a lot of MLB fights end with the players calmly making things right, but this one did. And frankly, it's nice to see that.  More MLB coverage from Yahoo Sports:   The StewPod: A baseball podcast by Yahoo Sports Subscribe via iTunes or via RSS feed - - - - - - Liz Roscher is a writer for Big League Stew on Yahoo Sports. A glare from Madison Bumgarner and a few words from Wil Myers was all it took to cause the benches to empty at the end of the third inning of the San Francisco Giants' game at San Diego on Tuesday night.
