Leonard struggled on 2-for-11 shooting and had nine turnovers, but Lou Williams led a big effort from the bench with 21 points and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the defending NBA champion Toronto Raptors 98-88 on Monday night. Leonard finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists to go with those nine turnovers, prompting Clippers coach Doc Rivers to joke about "almost a quadruple-double." Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward had surgery on his fractured left hand on Monday, and he is expected to be out for six weeks, the team announced. The timetable potentially sets his return for Christmas Day against the reigning NBA champion Raptors in Toronto. After the Raptors won the 2019 NBA title, Toronto coach Nick Nurse hugged Kawhi Leonard, Kyle Lowry and Masai Ujiri. Some of the hug recipients changed, but Nurse's celebration didn't look that different last night. New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball will not play against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night after sustaining a right adductor strain, the team announced. Ball initially was injured in a Nov. 2 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but said he played through the pain when the Pelicans faced the Brooklyn Nets on Monday. Ball, 22, totaled 15 points with two rebounds and three assists in that 135-125 setback to the Nets, then played Friday night in a 122-104 home loss to the Toronto Raptors. Continue to Article
