Carter Hart made plenty of big saves Wednesday night as he stopped 35 shots in the Flyers' 2-1 shootout loss to the NHL-leading Capitals at the Wells Fargo Center. Thanks to an awesome drawing, the beautiful memory of Lucy McCabe and the 21-year-old goalie, his most meaningful moment Wednesday night came after the game. The San Francisco Giants appointed Gabe Kapler as their manager on a three-year contract on Tuesday. Kapler, 44, was fired by the Philadelphia Phillies last month after two disappointing seasons during which they went 161-163. The Giants announced the appointment of Kapler, who replaces Bruce Bochy after the 64-year-old retired at the end of the 2019 MLB season. Continue to Article

The San Francisco Giants have selected former Philadelphia Phillies manager Gabe Kapler as Bruce Bochy's successor, the team announced Tuesday night. Kapler was fired after two seasons in charge of the Philadelphia Phillies, in which the team hovered around .500 despite an effort to break through in the NL East. The 44-year-old likely had a significant ally in the decision process in Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi, who worked with Kapler when the pair were with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Before the 2016 season the Arizona Diamondbacks radically altered their uniforms. The three most radical aspects of the uniform design, as we highlighted at the time, were (1) the blood-red markings around the ankles of the pants, which looked like, well, blood; (2) the dark gray — very dark gray — road uniforms; and (3) the little diamond pattern — sort of a snakeskin pattern — around the shoulders of the jersey. The team did away with the red ankles after only one season, no doubt realizing that all the players looked like they got their ankles stuck in bear traps or something. Continue to Article
