Carter Hart made plenty of big saves Wednesday night as he stopped 35 shots in the Flyers' 2-1 shootout loss to the NHL-leading Capitals at the Wells Fargo Center. Thanks to an awesome drawing, the beautiful memory of Lucy McCabe and the 21-year-old goalie, his most meaningful moment Wednesday night came after the game. Former major league catcher and first baseman Mike Napoli will join the Chicago Cubs' coaching staff, according to multiple reports Thursday. Napoli, who hit 267 home runs over 12 seasons with the Los Angeles, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians, will become the Cubs' quality assurance coach under new manager David Ross, according to The Athletic. For a dozen seasons, the San Francisco Giants baseball team was manned by skipper Bruce Bochy, whose tenure netted the team's first, second, and third World Series championships since 1954 when the team resided in New York. Bochy announced his retirement from the sport at the dawn of the 2019 season, leaving the Giants looking for a new manager come the winter. Kapler spent 12 seasons as a professional baseball player, playing for six different teams, and being a part of the famous 2004 Boston Red Sox who won the franchise's first World Series since 1918, ending the infamous, "Curse of the Bambino." In the National League, Pete Alonso took home the award -- though unlike his American League counterpart, his victory was not unanimous. Braves' hurler Mike Soroka received one first place vote with Alonso claiming the other 29. The San Francisco Giants appointed Gabe Kapler as their manager on a three-year contract on Tuesday. Kapler, 44, was fired by the Philadelphia Phillies last month after two disappointing seasons during which they went 161-163.
