The Penguins, in their first game since team captain and league star Sidney Crosby underwent sports hernia surgery, fell 2-1 at New Jersey, leaving them 4-2-2 in their past eight games. Three games after fellow Pittsburgh Penguins centre Evgeni Malkin returned from an early-season injury, Sidney Crosby left the game against the Chicago Blackhawks with an injury of his own. The three-time Stanley Cup champion, who left the game with a lower-body injury, had an incident with his left leg earlier in the game but appeared to be okay. Jake Guentzel and Jared McCann scored in the shootout Saturday to give the Pittsburgh Penguins a 3-2 win over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks. Guentzel beat Chicago goalie Corey Crawford between the pads, and McCann blasted a shot past Crawford's stick.
