The St. Louis Cardinals and the owner of radio station KMOX-AM said Friday that Cardinals games will continue to air on the station through the 2024 season as part of a five-year extension to their radio rights agreement. With the extension, KMOX, owned by Entercom Communications Corp., will remain the Cardinals flagship station and broadcast all regular season games, postseason matchups and spring training contests. The Cardinals' current slate of radio broadcasters, which includes Mike Shannon, John Rooney, Rick Horton and Mike Claiborne, will continue to perform the play-by-play duties. Continue to Article

Former major league catcher and first baseman Mike Napoli will join the Chicago Cubs' coaching staff, according to multiple reports Thursday. Napoli, who hit 267 home runs over 12 seasons with the Los Angeles, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians, will become the Cubs' quality assurance coach under new manager David Ross, according to The Athletic. For a dozen seasons, the San Francisco Giants baseball team was manned by skipper Bruce Bochy, whose tenure netted the team's first, second, and third World Series championships since 1954 when the team resided in New York. Bochy announced his retirement from the sport at the dawn of the 2019 season, leaving the Giants looking for a new manager come the winter. Adam Wainwright has agreed to a one-year contract to return to the St. Louis Cardinals for a 16th season. The deal is for $5 million plus up to $5 million in incentives, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported.
