The Pittsburgh Pirates will name Ben Cherrington as the team's new general manager, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Friday. The former Boston Red Sox executive vice president and general manager, 45, has been the Toronto Blue Jays' senior vice president of baseball operations for just over three years. New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom picked up the Cy Young Award for a second straight year on Wednesday while Justin Verlander was named the American League's winner for a second time. DeGrom was handed the pitching prize after a season which saw him finish with a 1.89 earned run average from his final 23 starts covering 152 innings.
