Kevin Scott had 15 points and 12 rebounds and top-seeded Texas Southern beat Alcorn State 53-50 on Saturday to win the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament title. Joe Toye scored a career-high 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting outside the arc, and Vanderbilt shook off a sluggish start in beating Texas A&M 66-41 Thursday night at the Southeastern Conference Tournament. With the win, the seventh-seeded Commodores (18-14) snapped a four-game skid in the tournament with their first victory since beating Kentucky in the 2013 quarterfinals. Denzel Dulin made a game-saving steal and hit two free throws with 5.2 seconds remaining as Alcorn State fended off Mississippi Valley State 63-60 in the opening round of the Southwest Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday night. Dulin finished with 13 points and A.J. Mosby led with 17 as second-seeded Alcorn State (17-13) advances to the quarterfinal round in Houston on Friday, facing either No. 6 seed Jackson State or No. 3 seed Southern.
