The Pittsburgh Pirates, still looking for a manager and general manager, will pick up the club option on right-hander Chris Archer, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The 31-year-old will be owed $8.25 million in 2020 after going 3-9 with a 5.19 ERA in 23 starts last season before being shut down in August due to inflammation in his pitching shoulder. Stephen Strasburg conceded the Washington Nationals needed to be "punched in the face" to spur them on to their maiden World Series title. The Nationals rallied from a 3-2 series deficit against the Houston Astros to win Games 6 and 7 in Texas, having also trailed as late as the eighth inning in the National League wild-card game against the Milwaukee Brewers earlier in the postseason. There have been a number of rumors that the Milwaukee Brewers would be getting rid of the “M-with-the-barley” as the primary logo and going back to some version of their classic ball-in-mitt logo next year. Chris Creamer of Sportslogos.net posted a photo last night of what appears to be the new/old logo being used in a preview of a 2020 Topps baseball card set featuring mascot Bernie Brewer. The blue on the glove is darker and there are a couple of very minor changes to it, but it's basically the classic logo, complete with the sorta hidden “m” and “b” which comprises the top and bottom of the glove.
