During the second period of the Montreal Canadiens' 5-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Friday, Alexander Ovechkin laid a monstrous hit on Habs forward Jonathan Drouin. Drouin did leave the game after the collision but returned to finish the contest. After the match was over, Ovechkin was asked about the thunderous check, saying that there was nothing wrong with it. Again, Buffalo seems to be the obvious candidate to drop out in the East, but that still leaves seven teams vying for what's probably five playoff spots.
