Giancarlo Stanton has played in only nine games this season, and the New York Yankees likely will have to do without him until August, general manager Brian Cashman said Thursday. The outfielder/designated hitter returned to the injured list Wednesday because of a strained PCL in his right knee. Cashman, speaking to reporters in London in advance of a weekend series against the Boston Red Sox, said of Stanton's return that it was "safer to say the sweet spot would be August," according to ESPN. New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is returning to the 10-day injured list with a strained right PCL and will miss this weekend's trip to London, manager Aaron Boone told reporters Wednesday. Boone told reporters before Wednesday's 8-7 win over the Toronto Blue Jays that Stanton would "probably" join the Yankees for their two-game series in London against the Boston Red Sox and would not go on the IL, citing a clean MRI on Stanton's knee. After the game, however, he said Stanton will indeed be moved to the IL and will be re-evaluated in 10 days. Continue to Article

The New York Yankees set a Major League Baseball record with a homer in a 28th straight game on Tuesday -- DJ LeMahieu's leadoff blast securing the mark in a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. LeMahieu belted a pitch off Toronto left-hander Clayton Richard into the second deck of seats in left field at Yankee Stadium to give New York the record. The Yankees came into the contest having had a homer in 27 straight games -- tied with the 2002 Texas Rangers, who achieved the feat from August 11-September 9 of that year. Continue to Article
