Colin Wilson and Mikko Rantanen each had two goals and an assist, and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Calgary Flames 5-1 in Game 5 of their playoff series Friday night to advance to the second round. Gabriel Landeskog also scored, and Nathan MacKinnon and Tyson Barrie each had three assists as the Avalanche won a playoff series for the first time since 2008. Rantanen scored on a slap shot 10:23 into overtime after tying the game with a goal late in regulation and the Colorado Avalanche rallied for a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night to take a 3-1 lead in the first-round series. Moments after weathering a penalty, captain Gabriel Landeskog started the rush down the ice and sent a pass over to Carl Soderberg. A wide-open Cale Makar screamed toward Nathan MacKinnon to deliver him the puck. MacKinnon scored twice in the first period and set up Makar's first NHL goal in his debut as the Colorado Avalanche routed the Calgary Flames 6-2 on Monday to take a 2-1 lead in their first-round playoff series. While it has been a busy weekend for the Avalanche, their new defenseman has had a whirlwind 36 hours.
