Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Casey DeSmith's impressive play has earned him a three-year contract extension. The deal, announced Friday, begins in the 2019-2020 season and carries an average annual value of $1.25 million. The 27-year-old DeSmith is 12-7-4 with a 2.47 goals-against average and a . Murray has a 1.24 goals-against average and a .966 save percentage during the unbeaten run that began on Dec. 15. Continue to Article

It is their two-headed monster of Erik Karlsson and Brent Burns on defense that is driving them back to that level. The Sharks enter Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Kings (10:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN) having collected a point in 13 of their past 16 games (with 11 of those games being wins) to keep pace in the suddenly tight Pacific Division race with the Calgary Flames and Vegas Golden Knights.
