Jordan Lynch is returning to NIU as an assistant coach. Northern Illinois is adding a familiar face to its staff, as former Heisman finalist Jordan Lynch has joined the Huskies as their running backs coach. Lynch, whose third-place finish in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2013 marked the highest finish in Mid-American Conference history, most recently spent two years as quarterback with the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL. The UAB Blazers laid another foundation in the football program's restart. Blazers coach Bill Clark finished up a 20-player recruiting class with nine high school players Wednesday, the latest building block seven months from the season opener against Alabama A&M. It was about more than star ratings and recruiting rankings but a more long-term view of the program that had previously loaded up on transfers and junior college players. With no games to play, the UAB football players spend hours sweating on the practice field and in the weight room. The Blazers can see the new, all-encompassing football building and covered field begin to take shape, eventually curtailing the time-consuming treks for workouts and across campus to eat.
