Dallas Stars defenseman Roman Polak was stretchered off the ice after skating headfirst into the boards during the second period of the team's season opener against the visiting Boston Bruins on Thursday night. Polak was battling for the puck with Bruins forward Chris Wagner when his head collided with the boards. The 14-year veteran was down on the ice for several minutes before a stretcher was brought out to remove him, players from each team taking a knee during the scare. Continue to Article

St. Louis
After being crowned Stanley Cup champions last June, the St. Louis Blues celebrated in style on home ice to open their 2019-20 season. It's the first time the Blues have ever been reigning champs, and they brought the trophy on the ice in front of their home fans. Since their team won the Cup in Boston, the packed crowd at the Enterprise Center was able to enjoy it with their own eyes. Continue to Article

Boston begins the year among the favorites to return to the Stanley Cup Final, though Dallas is not far behind according to most sportsbooks. The Bruins (49-24-9, 107 points last season) return mostly the same roster, including their high-scoring, top-line trio of Brad Marchand (36 goals, 64 assists), Patrice Bergeron (32 goals, 47 assists) and David Pastrnak (38 goals, 43 assists). One day after receiving their stunning bands for their parts in helping the St. Louis Blues hoist Lord Stanley's mug in June, defenceman Colton Parayko and forward Alex Steen paid a visit to the home of Laila Anderson on Tuesday to deliver a very special gift. And, to the surprise of nobody that has followed the growth of her relationship with the squad throughout last season, the youngster was over the moon upon realizing what she had received from the team. Winnipeg's Nikolaj Ehlers (#27) celebrates with Patrik Laine (#29) and Bryan Little (#18) after scoring against the Dallas Stars in February 2017. A few days after the Winnipeg Jets sniper's negative comments about his linemates caused quite the stir through the hockey world, Bryan Little revealed that the 21-year-old has since apologized and some of what he said was misconceived. “He was saying sorry and apologizing for just the way I think it was interpreted, which I kind of understood before I even talked to him,” explained Little on Thursday, according to Tim Campbell of NHL.com.
