Back then, Braun still was skating with the AHL's Worcester Sharks, trying to carve out a regular role with San Jose. Braun is expected to make his Flyers debut Friday in Prague against Chicago, and the 32-year-old lined up alongside 22-year-old Philly blueliner Ivan Provorov at Thursday's practice. The Chicago Blackhawks and forward Alex DeBrincat have come to terms on a three-year contract extension, with the deal running through the 2022-23 season and carrying an AAV of $6.4 million Both sides were able to get the reasonable bridge deal done on the eve of the team's season opener, all the more huge with DeBrincat still a full campaign out from restricted free agency. Also of note here: the DeBrincat deal expires at the same time as the Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith contracts, giving the Hawks maximum flexibility and cap space to offer DeBrincat a monster long-term deal in the summer of 2023 if they so choose. It's understandable that the NHL is trying to grow its audience outside of North America and opportunities for fans like this have the potential to do so. The Chicago Blackhawks have been in Europe recently as a part of the 2019 NHL Global Series and 2019 NHL Global Series Challenge. Continue to Article

Had the night of June 13 gone differently, maybe NHL rivals would be looking to the Boston Bruins as the model to follow to win the Stanley Cup. "We were one game away to change the narrative of how teams should be structured," Bruins defenseman Torey Krug said. The Bruins lost Game 7 of the final to the big, heavy St. Louis Blues, who bruised and battered their way to the Cup. Continue to Article
