A look at what's happening around the majors Friday: AL WILD CARD Oakland and Tampa Bay could clinch the AL wild-card spots and close out Cleveland. Francisco Lindor and the Indians put themselves in danger by losing 8-0 to the White Sox on Thursday night. Rookie Mauricio Dubon collected a single, a double and a home run to help San Francisco build a lead, and the Giants used a four-run eighth inning to pull away for an 8-3 victory over the visiting Colorado Rockies in the finale of a three-game series on Thursday afternoon. Mike Yastrzemski came off the bench to drive in a pair of runs, one on his 21st homer of the season, as the Giants gave outgoing manager Bruce Bochy a 2,003rd career win with just three games remaining. Bochy, whose record in 13 seasons with the Giants now stands at 1,052-1,051, will wrap up his 25-year career against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Continue to Article

Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman called the final game of his 46-year career with the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday. Fans at Great American Ballpark gave Brennaman a standing ovation when Cincinnati mayor John Cranley declared it Marty Brennaman Day during pregame festivities. Highlights of his long career in the booth include calling three World Series clinchers by Cincinnati (1975, 1976 and 1990) as well as Hank Aaron's 714th home run, Tom Seaver's 1978 no-hitter and Tom Browning's 1988 perfect game. And this one belongs to Marty Brennaman. With fans applauding his every mention, the Hall of Fame broadcaster called his final Cincinnati Reds game Thursday, ending a 46-year career that's featured so many big stars and historic moments — Hank Aaron, the Big Red Machine, Pete Rose — and more than a few verbal tiffs with fans and players who weren't exactly endeared to his tell-it-like-it-is style. Brennaman popped into the press box to shake writers' hands before a game against the Milwaukee Brewers, already showing emotion in quickly-tearing eyes. Continue to Article

Jaylin Davis bombed his first major league home run, a solo shot to center field with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday night, giving the host San Francisco Giants a 2-1, walk-off win over the Colorado Rockies. Coming on the heels of an 8-5 loss in 16 innings in the series opener Tuesday, the Giants were able to square manager Bruce Bochy's career record as their skipper at 1,051-1,051 with just four games remaining before his announced retirement Sunday. Davis, who entered the game 3-for-29 in his rookie season, capped a 2-for-4 performance with his blast off Rockies reliever DJ Johnson (0-2), who took over at the start of the inning.
