Marcus Semien and Matt Chapman homered, and Sean Manaea pitched six shutout innings to lead the Oakland A's to their sixth straight victory, 6-1, over the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon in Arlington, Texas. Semien's homer was his 30th of the season, joining Matt Olson (34) and Chapman (34) in the 30-home run club and tying the team record for players with 30 homers in a season last accomplished in 2001. Mark Canha lined a two-run home run off the left field foul pole to break a 5-5 tie and Matt Chapman, Josh Phegley and Matt Olson also homered to lead the Oakland A's to their fifth straight victory, 8-6 over the Texas Rangers on Saturday night in Arlington, Texas. Ramon Laureano doubled and had three hits and a run scored, and Sheldon Neuse also had two hits for Oakland (89-60). The Seattle Mariners are spending their penultimate weekend at home this season honoring future Hall of Famer Ichiro Suzuki's career with “Ichiro Weekend,” which kicked off Friday night in Seattle. Ichiro has been serving as a special adviser to the team since early in the 2018 season, but came back to take the field for a final time in Tokyo.
