Houston
The gap between his WAR and that of Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman, who ranks second in the AL, is 1.9 wins if prorated over 162 games. That's basically an entire season's worth of value from an average player! Limiting to cases in which the top two in WAR were both position players, the only league leader since 2002 with a wider gap came in the 2012 AL, when Trout himself was 2.5 wins ahead of No. Continue to Article

This whole Craig Kimbrel thing hasn't really worked out as hoped so far in Chicago. Michael Brantley socked a two-run homer with one out in the 13th inning as the host Houston Astros erased a seven-run deficit in their walk-off 11-9 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Thursday night. Brantley, who drove in Jose Altuve for the game-tying run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning, brought home Jake Marisnick with his blast to right-center field off Matt Wisler (3-4). Josh James (5-0) earned the win for the Astros, who improved to 13-1 against the Mariners this season. Continue to Article

Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager socked his second homer of the game with one out off James, his 21st home run of the season going the opposite way to left field and providing Seattle a 9-8 lead. But with two outs and facing a 1-2 count in the bottom of the 12th, the Astros' Kyle Tucker dumped an RBI single into right field, scoring pinch-runner Myles Straw to tie the game. Austin Nola, the third of six consecutive batters to reach safely in the first inning off Astros left-hander Wade Miley, doubled in two runs. Continue to Article

In NFL salary terms, Ezekiel Elliott has reached the top of the mountain. In the NBA, his contract's worth about as much as that of a six-team, five-point-per-game journeyman. Put another way: the marquee running back for America's Team is guaranteed to make about as much as the second baseman for a last-place baseball team. Continue to Article
