A day after hitting his 30th home run, Donaldson lofted a high fly over the left field wall in the second inning and lined a drive to deep center in the seventh for his ninth long ball against the Mets this season. He tied Hank Aaron's club mark for most homers in a year against the Mets — Hammerin' Hank did it against the expansion club in 1962. San Francisco Giants infielder Pablo Sandoval will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, the team announced Saturday. Sandoval last played on Aug. 9 and went on the 10-day injured list five days later. He was examined on Wednesday by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, and the noted orthopedic surgeon recommended the reconstructive surgery in which the ulnar collateral ligament is repaired. The Atlanta Braves signed catcher Francisco Cervelli to a major league contract on Saturday, two days after the Pittsburgh Pirates placed the veteran catcher on waivers. Cervelli requested his release from Pittsburgh to pursue opportunities with a team that could offer more playing time and a chance to play in the postseason.
