Two days after the non-waiver trade deadline, the Pittsburgh Pirates did their own roster reshaping, as infielder Jung Ho Kang was designated for assignment Friday. Kang, 32, was batting .169 with 10 home runs and 24 RBIs in 65 games this season. After the 2016 season, Kang was arrested in his native South Korea for driving under the influence and missed nearly all of the next two seasons when he could not secure a visa to return to the United States. Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Jameson Taillon is tentatively expected to undergo surgery to repair his elbow flexor tendon in the next few weeks, according to The Athletic. The Pirates placed Taillon on the injured list in early May for what was described as a right elbow flexor strain. Taillon, 27, compiled a 2-3 record with a 4.10 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 37 1/3 innings over seven starts in 2019. Continue to Article

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Corey Dickerson apparently didn't stick around after grounding out to end the fifth inning in Cincinnati on Wednesday. The Pirates agreed to trade the 30-year-old Dickerson to the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday afternoon, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported.
