Officials in Henderson, NV put together a significant proposal in an effort to lure the Arizona Diamondbacks from Phoenix, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Thursday. Henderson city manager Richard Derrick and mayor Debra March reportedly initiated the talks during the summer of 2018 after reaching out to D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall. It's reported the discussions revolved around the creation of a brand-new stadium in Henderson, which is located about 15 miles southeast of Las Vegas. Continue to Article

Atkins and his staff were busy Wednesday, sending Daniel Hudson to the Washington Nationals, then followed up by shipping Aaron Sanchez, Joe Biagini, and prospect Cal Stevenson to the Houston Astros in exchange for outfielder Derek Fisher. Houston Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said he is surprised the MLB franchise acquired Zack Greinke from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Houston, who had been pursuing a starter for almost all of July, missed out on most of their reported targets but landed Greinke in a deal with the Diamondbacks just before Wednesday's deadline. The deal to acquire the six-time all-Star and 2009 American League Cy Young Award winner shocked Luhnow, who said: "I can't believe we just added Zack Greinke to this rotation and this team, was probably my first thought.
