The agent for New Orleans Saints leading receiver Michael Thomas says Thomas and the Saints have agreed on a new five-year, $100 million contract. Andrew Kessler of the agency Athletes First, who joined colleague David Mulugheta in negotiating the deal with the Saints, says the contract pays Thomas about $61 million in guaranteed salary and bonuses. Lorenzo Cain hit the second pitch of the game for a home run, and Jordan Lyles threw five strong innings in his Milwaukee debut Wednesday night, sending the Brewers to a 4-2 victory over the host Oakland Athletics in the second game of an interleague series. Lyles (6-7), who had been winless in four starts for Pittsburgh in July before being acquired by the Brewers in a trade Monday, checked the A's on three hits before leaving with a 3-1 lead. Hendricks (8-8) held St. Louis to seven hits while walking none and striking out seven. Jose Berrios struck out a season-high 11 batters while pitching seven scoreless innings, leading the Minnesota Twins to a 7-4 win over the host Miami Marlins on Wednesday night. The Twins, who lead the American League Central and have won five of their past six games, also got a three-run homer by Mitch Garver, a two-run shot by Eddie Rosario and a solo blast from Max Kepler.
