Craig Stammen struck out Michael Conforto to escape a bases-loaded jam in the seventh inning, and the visiting San Diego Padres pulled away for a 7-2 victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday night. With San Diego leading 4-2, Stammen created the jam by allowing a double to Amed Rosario ahead of walks to pinch hitter J.D. Davis and Jeff McNeil. Former major league pitcher Dwight Gooden was arrested in Newark, N.J., on Monday night and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to a press release issued by the Newark Department of Public Safety. Gooden, 54, was stopped while driving a 2012 black Chrysler in the wrong direction on a one-way street at approximately 11:10 p.m. ET.
