Tampa Bay
The Tampa Bay Lightning's Bolts Gaming Series was in its infancy when the team's deal with PepsiCo was in early talks — but it quickly became a key piece of the partnership. The Lightning and Amalie Arena announced Tuesday that it had signed a seven-year deal with Pepsi, giving the company soft drink rights at the arena and a slew of other benefits, including naming rights to the deck on the arena's second level overlooking Ford Thunder Alley. As part of the deal, Mountain Dew Game Fuel is the presenting sponsor of Bolts Gaming Series —  a series of monthly gaming tournaments, spanning the length of the regular hockey season from October to April. Tampa Bay
While the easy play would be to put one's faith behind the Tampa Bay Lightning, bettors who blindly traveled that path last year were rewarded with an empty wallet after the Presidents' Trophy winners were unceremoniously swept in the first round. Sure, Tampa Bay (+700) has the best odds, but let's keep in mind that the Lightning will have to contend with fellow Atlantic Division heavyweights Toronto (+1200) and Boston (+1400) in the second round -- provided they don't slip up like last spring. While the Tampa Bay Lightning managed to sign Brayden Point to a three-year deal just in time for the 2019-20 season, the star forward is expected to be sidelined for the start of the campaign. Lightning GM Julien BriseBois revealed on Monday that Point, who reportedly underwent hip surgery earlier this summer, will be held out of the lineup until late October, according to Joe Smith of The Athletic. BriseBois added that Point is “pain free and almost back to normal” as the star centre continues to recover from surgery. Continue to Article

Restricted free-agent forward Brayden Point signed a three-year, $20.25 million contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning, the team announced Monday. The contract has an average annual value of $6.75 million for Point, who led the NHL with 20 power-play goals last season. "We are very pleased to re-sign Brayden today," Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois said. Continue to Article

Tampa Bay
We appear to be moving closer on a resolution to the Brayden Point- Tampa Bay Lightning stand-off. Reports surfaced Monday that the two sides are nearing a new contract for the highly-productive restricted free agent, with TSN's Pierre LeBrun noting that both camps are focused on a bridge deal, likely in the three-year range. Both player and team were apparently more than a couple million dollars (per season) apart as recently as last weekend, so this would be serious progress as the looming regular season adds pressure on both sides to get something done sooner rather than later.
