Didi Gregorius went 5-for-5 with seven RBIs and scored the winning run in the 10th inning as the New York Yankees rallied for a wild 14-12 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night in Minneapolis. Gregorius had a three-run homer and two two-run doubles. He singled with one out in the 10th off reliever Kohl Stewart (2-2), advanced to second on a bloop single by Austin Romine and then scored the winning run on a single by Gleyber Torres. If Tuesday's game between the AL East-leading New York Yankees and AL Central-leading Minnesota Twins was a true playoff preview, October can't get here fast enough. After a six-run comeback, four blown saves and a half-dozen lead changes, it was Aaron Hicks soaring through the air and catching a would-be game-winner from Max Kepler that gave the Yankees a 10-inning, 14-12 win. Gooden was pulled over after driving the wrong way down a one-way road, Newark police said. Gooden, 54, was charged with drug possession charges after two plastic baggies allegedly containing cocaine were found in his car during a traffic stop in Holmdel last month. Continue to Article

Mitch Garver hit two of five home runs by the Twins, who held on for an 8-6 victory over the Yankees after a tone-setting triple play in the first inning . "Those are the teams that you're going to have to play at the end of the season if you want to hold up the trophy," said Garver, who has 19 homers in just 181 at-bats. "These are the games that are really good for us, because we're playing against the top level." Continue to Article

It was the eighth game this season that the Twins hit five or more home runs in a game, tying the major league record set by the 1977 Boston Red Sox. Garver finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Polanco also had two hits and two runs scored. The triple play, the 13th in Twins and history and first since June 1, 2017 against the Angels, occurred in the first inning after Minnesota starter Martin Perez began the frame by walking both DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Judge.
