San Francisco Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi said "it's impossible to say" whether ace Madison Bumgarner will be traded or not. The Giants were expected to be sellers this month and were reportedly planning to move three-time MLB World Series champion Bumgarner. San Francisco, however, have won eight of their last nine games and entered play on Monday just two-and-a-half games out of the second wild-card spot. Continue to Article

Michael Brantley homered twice on Sunday while Rogelio Armenteros pitched five solid innings to earn his first major league win as the Houston Astros downed the Texas Rangers 5-3 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, completing a sweep of the three-game series. In his first MLB start, the 25-year old Armenteros (1-0) permitted just two hits and a run, walking two and fanning six. Four relievers obtained the last 12 outs, with Roberto Osuna pitching the ninth to garner his 22nd save despite allowing a one-out solo homer to Logan Forsythe, his sixth of the year. Urquidy (1-0) posted a 10.50 ERA over his two starts before facing the Rangers for the first time. He needed just 35 pitches to complete one perfect trip through the order and, after surrendering a leadoff home run to Rangers left fielder Shin-Soo Choo in the fourth inning, responded to that hiccup by retiring 11 consecutive batters. Yordan Alvarez capped a stretch of back-to-back-to-back home runs with a titanic blast to right field before the Houston Astros hung on for a 4-3 victory over the visiting Texas Rangers on Friday night. Alvarez followed solo blasts from Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman with his 474-foot bomb deep into the upper deck for his 10th home run this season. Altuve smacked a leadoff shot to left-center for his 13th dinger before Bregman followed with his 26th home run, a 356-foot shot to left, as Houston ambushed Rangers All-Star left-hander Mike Minor (8-5) in the third inning.
