The Philadelphia Phillies placed outfielder Jay Bruce on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday because of a right oblique strain. Bruce, who is hitting .230 with 24 home runs for the Seattle Mariners and Phillies this season, suffered the injury in the third inning Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bruce, 32, has 10 home runs, a .256 batting average and 29 RBIs in 33 games for Philadelphia, which acquired him on June 2 in exchange for minor league third baseman Jake Scheiner and cash considerations. Bryce Harper threw his helmet off rounding the bases, thrust his arms in the air and screamed while teammates stormed out of the dugout to mob him. Harper hit a two-run double off Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen with one out in the bottom of the ninth after pinch-hitter Matt Beaty hit a three-run homer off Phillies closer Hector Neris in the top half, rallying Philadelphia to a 9-8 win over Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Philadelphia outfielder Jay Bruce left the Phillies' Tuesday night home game against the Los Angeles Dodgers with an oblique injury, the Phillies announced. In the bottom of the third inning, Bruce tried to check his swing and then reached right away for his side.
