The Philadelphia Phillies placed right-hander Juan Nicasio on the 10-day injured list on Thursday due to a left groin strain. Nicasio suffered the injury during Wednesday's contest against the Atlanta Braves. The Los Angeles Angels announced Wednesday that All-Star second baseman Tommy La Stella has a fractured right tibia and will miss eight to 10 weeks. La Stella sustained the injury Tuesday night when he fouled a 97-mph fastball off his right shin in the sixth inning of the Angels' win over the Texas Rangers. Nick Markakis and Austin Riley homered on consecutive pitches in the eighth inning Saturday night for the Atlanta Braves, who took advantage of the latest implosion by the New York Mets' bullpen to post a 5-4 win. Mike Soroka earned the win by tossing 6 1/3 strong innings Friday night, and the Atlanta Braves never trailed after fellow rookie Austin Riley launched a two-run homer in the second inning as they defeated the host New York Mets 6-2. The Mets lost their sixth straight and fell to a National League-worst 9-17 in June.
