Milwaukee
The 26-year-old ace took no prisoners Thursday, but he did take a no-hitter into the seventh inning as the Reds dispensed of the visiting Milwaukee Brewers in shutout fashion while claiming a series win over their division rival. Castillo, proud owner of one of the most infuriatingly unhittable changeups in recent memory, gave the Brewers the business, silencing Christian Yelich and company en route to his team-leading eighth victory. Tempers flared in the fourth inning as Chicago manager Joe Maddon was ejected after All-Star shortstop Javier Baez was nearly hit by a pitch from Pittsburgh starter Jordan Lyles (5-5), who had surrendered three home runs. The Marlins, who have the worst record in the National League at 30-46, completed their third series sweep of the season. The Phillies, who have dropped seven straight, were swept for the third time. Adam Frazier drove in two runs and Elias Diaz and Jung Ho Kang added one each in a four-run eighth inning Saturday that boosted the Pittsburgh Pirates past the visiting San Diego Padres, 6-3, for their third straight win. With the game knotted 2-2, Starling Marte opened the eighth with a triple against Craig Stammen (5-4). Josh Bell walked, and Colin Moran was intentionally walked, loading the bases before Frazier chopped a two-run single up the middle. Continue to Article
