Giancarlo Stanton hit his first homer of the season to highlight a seven-run sixth inning, and the New York Yankees tied a major league record by homering for the 27th straight game Monday night before holding on for a 10-8 victory over the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees matched the mark set by the Texas Rangers in 2002 and won for the ninth time in 10 games by holding off a late Toronto comeback attempt. Marco Hernandez beat out an infield single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the host Boston Red Sox past the Chicago White Sox 6-5 on Monday. Hernandez beat the throw of shortstop Tim Anderson, who got to the ball in the hole but couldn't get the runner on a jump throw to first. Andrew Benintendi came home after starting the inning with a double off Jace Fry (1-3) as the Red Sox battled back to tie the score on three separate occasions in the late innings. One day after a fan a Dodger Stadium got hit in the head by a foul ball, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced Monday that they would extend the protective netting further down the foul lines. Dodgers team president and CEO Stan Kasten told the Orange County Register that the move to add more netting already was in the works before a fan was struck Sunday by a line drive from Los Angeles slugger Cody Bellinger. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. reacts after striking out. After an injury scare last week Vladimir Guerrero Jr. really could have used a strong stretch to demonstrate his hand was just fine. Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman was fired up yesterday, after striking out Red Sox third baseman Eduardo Núñez to end the sixth inning. It was the last batter he'd face in the game, he probably new it, after strike three was called he yelled loudly and then, for lack of a better term, kinda pranced to the dugout and gave a little applause to, I think anyway, himself.
