The New York Mets placed right-hander Noah Syndergaard on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring strain and activated second baseman Robinson Cano. Syndergaard left Saturday night's 8-7 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the seventh inning. On the season, Syndergaard is 5-4 with a 4.55 ERA for the Mets, who are in third place in the National League East, 6 ½ games behind the Atlanta Braves. Continue to Article

César Hernández singled in two runs off Luke Jackson in the ninth inning, and Philadelphia rallied from a one-run deficit to snap the Atlanta Braves' eight-game winning streak with a 6-5 victory on Saturday night. It was a big comeback for the Phillies, who looked poised to lose for the fifth time in six games and fall 3½ games behind their rivals in the NL East race. Philadelphia has dealt with rampant injuries this season and had starters Jay Bruce and J.T. Realmuto leave during the game. Continue to Article

Atlanta Braves left-hander Sean Newcomb exited his start against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday after getting hit in the back of the head with a line drive. The line drive exited Realmuto's bat at 102 mph. Newcomb turned his head away before impact but was still hit squarely. Continue to Article

The ball was hit with such force that it landed in foul territory near third base. Newcomb was immediately tended to on the field by the Braves athletic trainer and was able to leave the field under his own power. Continue to Article

Philadelphia
If the NL East is eventually decided by a game or two in the Braves' favor, Friday night, June 14, will stick out like a hanging splitter. The Phillies, previously 36-2 when leading after the eighth inning, imploded in the ninth and lost a heartbreaker, 9-8 to the Braves to fall to 2½ games back in the NL East (see observations). It was the eighth win in a row for a Braves team that looks more dangerous by the day. The ninth inning was like a game unto itself. Continue to Article
