In a perfect world, Detroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire would have a healthy Miguel Cabrera at first base every game. Until that day comes, however, Gardenhire's happy with whatever production he can get out of Cabrera. After missing the previous two games with chronic knee pain and announcing that he will be a full-time DH for the foreseeable future, Cabrera had a grand slam in a three-hit, five-RBI game as the Tigers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 9-6 Tuesday. There's a reason Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera is only hitting singles these days. Jake Odorizzi allowed three hits over six shutout innings, Jonathan Schoop hit a two-run homer and C.J. Cron had a three-run double to lead the Minnesota Twins to their third straight victory, 9-7 over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon in St. Petersburg, Fla. It was the sixth time in the last seven starts that Odorizzi (8-2) didn't allow a run. Odorizzi, who extended his scoreless innings streak to 16 1/3, struck out nine and walked one while lowering his American League leading ERA to 1.96. Continue to Article

Kiermaier legged out a three-run, inside-the-park homer when Cleveland outfielders Oscar Mercado and Leonys Martin collided, and Ryan Yarbrough handled the Indians' struggling lineup into the eighth inning of his first start this season to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a 7-2 win Thursday night. With the Rays ahead 3-0 in the sixth, Kiermaier hit a sinking liner to left-center. Mercado and Martin converged on the ball before slamming into each other as they each made an all-out attempt at catching it. Continue to Article

New York Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius played five innings of defense and went 2 for 4 with a walk Monday at extended spring training in his first game action since Tommy John surgery on Oct. 17. "It was good," Gregorius said. Playing against Detroit Tigers minor leaguers and in front of Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner, Gregorius singled twice and cleanly fielded three grounders but had an error for an errant throw to first base.
