Kyle Hendricks struck out 10 in seven solid innings, Kyle Schwarber and Javier Baez homered, and the host Chicago Cubs beat the Colorado Rockies 6-3 on Tuesday night. Playing in just his second game for the Cubs, Carlos Gonzalez doubled and drove in two runs against his former team, and Pedro Strop pitched the ninth for his fifth save of the season. The Chicago Cubs activated reliever Pedro Strop from the 10-day injured list before Tuesday night's game against the Colorado Rockies and optioned reliever Dillon Maples to Triple-A Iowa. The 33-year-old Strop, who went on the IL on May 8 with a strained left hamstring, is 1-2 with a 5.06 ERA and has four saves in six chances. Jon Lester went seven strong innings to end his roughest stretch of the season, and Chicago Cubs scored five times in the sixth inning to halt a three-game skid with an 8-1 home win over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. In the makeup of a postponed game from April 14, the Cubs won for just the third time in 11 games. The governor of Illinois is expected to sign legislation that will legalize sports betting in the state, including at Soldier Field, home of the Bears. Soldier Field is one of seven venues in Illinois that would be eligible for sports betting licenses, according to Joe Ostrowski of 670 The Score.
