Eric Hosmer capped a four-run first inning by hitting a three-run homer, and the San Diego Padres held on for a 5-4 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium. The Padres evened the series by taking a four-run lead four batters in after New York third baseman DJ LeMahieu misplayed a grounder by leadoff man Greg Garcia for an error. Left-hander James Paxton will rejoin the New York Yankees' rotation in the new few days, followed by CC Sabathia this weekend against Boston. On a day of updates for many of the Yankees' 15 players on the injured list, reliever Dellin Betances threw his first bullpen session Monday, and ace Luis Severino said he planned to throw on flat ground Tuesday. New York Yankees pitcher James Paxton still has discomfort in his ailing left knee, and shortstop Didi Gregorius planned to start a minor league injury rehabilitation assignment that Saturday that has him returning to the big league team by mid-June.
