Cincinnati
Lord Stanley's mug is to be lifted over heads in joyous celebration, not filled with objects used to play a sport that isn't hockey. May the San Francisco Giants be cursed with a championship drought equivalent to that of the Toronto Maple Leafs! Or, for some, not aggressive enough after seeing what the San Francisco Giants did with the Stanley Cup at batting practice before their Friday night clash with the Cincinnati Reds. Giants vs. Reds lineup: Mac Williamson in right field, batting fifth originally appeared on nbcsportsbayarea.com Was the Giants' offensive output on their just-completed six-game road trip a sign of better days ahead, or simply fool's gold, a reflection of the hitter-friendly environments in which they played? Cheating the reaper four times is quite an accomplishment, but it is not a Bay Area record.  That belongs to the 2012 San Francisco Giants, who fought off elimination six times – six! – on the way to their second World Series title. The San Francisco Giants placed catcher Buster Posey on the seven-day concussion injured list Thursday. It is unclear when Posey sustained a head injury, but The Mercury News reported that he took multiple hard foul balls off his mask last weekend in Cincinnati.
