Mets LHP Steven Matz has avoided the injured list for now after undergoing tests on his elbow and receiving a cortisone shot, manager Mickey Callaway said before Monday's game against the Padres. Matz will not make Wednesday's scheduled start after he traveled back to New York with a nerve issue in his forearm.
