The Washington Nationals fired pitching coach Derek Lilliquist after a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night. A day that began with the news of Jeurys Familia going on the 10-day IL with a bone spur ended with their not-so-bulletproof closer, Edwin Diaz, giving up a game-losing home run for the second time in three nights. Jeurys Familia hasn't been very effective in his return to the New York Mets. Familia coughed up a two-run lead in the ninth inning Tuesday night and informed the Mets his shoulder was bothering him the following morning, manager Mickey Callaway said.
