After my Monday-night musing about how an inevitable Luis Robert promotion might work given the crowded outfields throughout the White Sox loaded minor league system, the inevitable became reality Tuesday, with the White Sox bumping the No. 4 prospect in the organization up from Class A Winston-Salem to Double-A Birmingham. Robert, off to an absolutely scorching start this season - an ungodly .453/.512/.920 slash line with eight homers, five doubles, three triples, eight stolen bases, 24 RBIs and 21 runs scored in just 19 games - is now just two jumps away from the major leagues. With Yoan Moncada, Michael Kopech and Eloy Jimenez, the White Sox exercised extreme patience, even as the fan base clamored, at times feverishly, to see those guys on the South Side. With snow in Chicago's forecast for much of the day, Saturday's White Sox-Tigers game has been postponed. The game, which was scheduled for 6:10 p.m. CT, will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on July 3 at 1:10 p.m CT. Like many top starters this season, Zack Wheeler was off to a rough start, entering Tuesday's outing with a 6.35 ERA and 1.54 WHIP after he was one of baseball's best pitchers during the second half of last year (1.68 ERA and 0.81 WHIP).
