Jacob deGrom is giving up home runs and struggling with his control at the moment. DeGrom had another tough start Sunday night, and the New York Mets lost 7-3 to Julio Teheran and the Atlanta Braves. ''I'm not really throwing the ball where I want to right now,'' deGrom said. Continue to Article

Touki Toussaint was glad to skip his scheduled start at Triple-A Gwinnett. ''I told him when he came in, 'Great job,' but that would be an understatement,'' Braves manager Brian Snitker said. Freddie Freeman hit a go-ahead RBI single in the second inning, Ronald Acuna Jr. had his fifth straight multihit game and the Braves snapped the Mets' three-game winning streak. Continue to Article

Nimmo hit a two-run homer, Jeff McNeil added a two-run double and New York kept hitting even without Pete Alonso, beating the Braves 6-2. The first-place Mets, who have won three straight, scored four times in the fourth inning on McNeil's hit and RBI doubles from Robinson Cano and Michael Conforto. Continue to Article

There are a number of ways to portray that reality, but my favorite so far is to note that it's about what the Indians gave second baseman Carlos Baerga on a yearly basis for his contract extension in 1993. The Atlanta Braves continued locking up cornerstone players Thursday afternoon, when shortstop Ozzie Albies agreed to a seven-year deal worth a guaranteed $35 million. But hours after Albies put pen to paper, the New York Mets proved the Braves aren't the only team in the NL East with a bevy of young talent that could provide the foundation of a franchise well into the 2020s. Pete Alonso will look to continue his torrid start Friday night, when the Mets visit the Braves in the second game of a four-game series between the division rivals. Continue to Article
